The Express Scripts Lab, located in St. Louis, MO, is the hub of the pharmaceutical benefit manager’s unique approach to research and development.  The Lab, open for interactive client visits and workshops, is designed to foster collaboration, accelerate innovation, and enhance patient care. To achieve these goals, the experiential space was developed by Clickspring Design with audiovisual collaborative initiatives engineered and integrated by McCann Systems.

Presentation and collaboration areas are spread throughout the facility.  Technology includes projection, data-rich analytic displays, and three video walls.  Providing maximum flexibility; these areas are used as efficient collaboration spaces, private discussions areas, and for larger informal work sessions.

In the Advanced Research & Analytics Department you will find a large recessed 4×4 video wall.   This wall features X20 content driven by a Vista Spyder which can be controlled by visitors using an iPod Touch. Blending into the simple sleek lines of the modern architecture, the LED ticker illuminates the perimeter with custom messages and news headlines.

Collaboration is a major focus within the space, with four separate interactive areas and six conferencing spaces.  All of these areas were built around a concept that the space should work for you. Mobile collaboration nooks can be moved on tracks or joined together. Sliding partitions have built-in video walls and VTC technology that can be rotated for use in many positions. The larger partition features a 2×2 video wall made up of touch enabled 46” displays as well as a video conferencing system and a custom Crestron control system. The smaller partition features a 1×2 video wall using 46” LCD’s displaying interactive content via X2O software. A custom designed user interface and control program allow users to work with this complex system intuitively.

An open-area video conference system is set up on the second floor mezzanine for informal VTC communications. The technology is discreetly installed within a half-wall partition.  Custom software controls the system with a wireless tablet.

The Express Scripts Lab is an elegant and sophisticated display of architecture and technology.
