Greetings
Walking from the lobby through the main entrance, visiting groups are greeted by a community wall consisting of three rear projection video cubes. Stacked 6 feet high, they highlight the presenter delivering a welcoming message. Walk a little further and a custom designed screen is the backdrop for the university logo and a text message. The screen is composed of alternating opaque and clear horizontal strips. The message is displayed on the opaque strips while the clear strips allow guests to see through to the campus.
The great wall
At the main presentation area, visitors are confronted by a breathtaking 7.5' x 61.3' video wall consisting of four, rigid, high gain, custom-built, rear projection screens designed by McCann Systems. The screens feature powder coated legs and frame. To achieve the wall's narrow silhouette, the conventional side frame supports are placed in back of the screen.
Electronic storage, touch screen control
The completely programmed environment, including the lighting presets, is managed from a touchscreen console or walk-around control. All video is stored electronically on hard drives. There are no mechanical devices. The entire sequence is directed from a PC cluster with a synchronized playback system. Each of the four PCs is hooked to its own projector, each playing back a piece of the video presentation…this allows the center to work with huge files.
