Following the integration of the country’s largest high resolution, edge-blended video wall in the lobby of IAC’s office tower, McCann tackled the challenges of the “galleon’s” ship-shaped upper floor conference rooms.
Conference rooms in a “sailing ship”
Due to the extraordinary “ship-like” contours of this Frank Gehry designed, 10- story, glass enclosed office tower, each of the meeting rooms presented unique challenges. One of the most fascinating was the 6th floor, executive boardroom, dubbed the “Bridge.” The principal meeting space for IAC’s top level executives. Positioning of the cameras, table shape and the room’s sound characteristics all required custom AV solutions. The conference table features 16 retractable, Elo LCD touch screens at each seat. Each screen is recessed within the table and slides out for use. To enhance acoustics, user convenience and create a personal experience, we also built the speakers into the AV monitor assembly directly in front of each participant.
Video-conferencing with perfect perspective
In front of the room, a 54” x 129” Stewart Aeroglass screen is flanked on either side by EAW speakers. The video conferencing systems feature two HD cameras, a Tandberg mounted below the screen , ideal for head shots and a Sony above delivering overhead room views.
Taking the Helm to new heights
The Helm conference room on the 6th floor features an oval-shaped table with six table microphones and two flush-mounted speakers. Two recessed 42” monitors are mounted on swing arms for convenient viewing. Between them is a Tandberg HD camera, room control is handled by a Crestron touch panel.
The Prow is at the bow
The second through fifth floors conference rooms feature Polycom speakerphones for audio conferencing. HD satellite TV and PC presentations are displayed on a 65” plasma with a smart board overlay.
An uncommon common area
The Common’s seating area is designed for informal employee gatherings. A 50” Panasonic plasma screen rests on a rolling cart. The plasma screen is connected to the headend system of the two adjoining, divisible rooms. In the case of overflow, doors open and a presentation can be pumped into the Common area. The divisible rooms, together with the Common area can easily hold 250 attendees.
