NHL Conference Faclities
New York, New York
Above the Glitz and Glamour
McCann Systems was hired to design, consult and integrate the NHL’s corporate offices as well as their flagship retail store. Both located at 6th & 47th in the center of Manhattan steps away from Times Square.
Floor to ceiling hockey
The 11th floor incorporates offices as well as the NHL Ice Room. This space is separated in the center by a glass wall covered with hockey sticks on each side. On both sides of the wall four 50” plasma monitors are suspended on poles and appear to be floating.
Vintage film from a modern shield
Exit the 15th floor elevator and you are immediately drawn towards the sounds of hockey…becoming progressively louder as you walk down the hall. In front of you is a large metal sculpture of the NHL logo, behind the sculpture, vintage hockey clips are projected onto a curved metal wall. The projector is located in the rear of the logo statue.
High-End Conference rooms
The 15th floor houses two types of conference rooms. All rooms have table boxes and microphones built into the table. Four have full audio conferencing and feature both a projector and 50” plasma monitor. Source equipment is neatly concealed in the credenzas.
Four other 15th floor conference rooms house 50” plasmas plus table boxes for computer connectivity. Two of the rooms have audio conferencing and are also equipped with HD DVD and HD Satellite TV. The two remaining rooms are presentation rooms equipped with plasma monitors and table boxes.
AV for the Executive Boardroom and the Commissioner’s office
The Executive Boardroom contains a 25’ conference table with built in microphones and a 7.1 surround sound audio system. A Stewart 122” Starglas video wall with a 5000 lumen Christie projector on a rear projection sled allows optimal viewing from all points in this large room. The room’s source rack holds the audio conferencing equipment, HD DVD player, HD satellite receiver, a room PC and all of the video processors.
In the Commissioner’s office two 42” plasmas and one 50” monitor are mounted on the wall for simultaneous presentation capabilities and HD video. Three different HD receivers handle Direct TV, Dish Network and a Canadian feed giving the commissioner full access to all hockey related events. A Crestron touchpanel provides a simple graphic user interface allowing the commissioner to control these elaborate audio visual systems as well environmental controls with ease.
